The Great Ocean Road

Yesterday, the 14th, was another long day. We left our apartments around 7 a.m. and got on our very own chartered bus to head down the coast to see the 12 Apostles. It was about a three hour bus ride so we had a little time to catch up on some sleep. I thought that we would be doing a lot of hiking like our last outing but this time was different. Instead of hiking all around we took the bus from one lookout point to another. This first stop was not part of the 12 Apostles rock formations but it was still pretty neat. It was called Airey's Inlet. On top of the cliff was a light house over looked the coast. It sort of looked like the one from "The Ring", kind of creepy. But the views were astonishing.

We all piled back into the bus and headed along the coast to the actual 12 Apostles. The nest stop was a place called Apollo Bay. This wasn't part or near the 12 Apostles either. This little coastal town was super busy seeing that it was right along the main coastal road where all of the tourists traveled on. We stopped and grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed on down the road. The Great Ocean Road was gorgeous all along the coast. Our bus driver had obviously been driving this road for some time because it was insane how fast he was hauling it going around turns. Luckily I was sitting towards the front of the bus so I didn't get car sick which I do very easily.

The weather yesterday was not quite ideal to have on the coast. It threatened to rain most of the day and was windy and a bit chilly. Yet I still managed to get sunburned. We finally made it to the famous 12 Apostles. Come to find out, there is really only 9 of them. Well, eight now since one of them collapsed back in 2005.No one is even sure if there ever were twelve of them. It was still incredible to see God's creation at its finest. These rock formations are the tallest limestone stack and obviously the most impressive ones. The area was super crowded with tourists from all over. However most of them seemed to be from Asia. There have been a lot of Asian people around each city that we have been to but they are mostly just tourist. After fighting our way through the crowded walkways we were finally able to get the best views of the coast line and all its beauty. It was absolutely incredible to witness nature at its finest.
