Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th is never a day that anyone would have in mind to go flying. But we did. Our flight left out of Brisbane this morning at 9:30 putting us in Melbourne around 12:30. We got to our accommodations for the next 9 days at the RMIT village at the University of Melbourne. The student housing is surprisingly nice! We each have our own side of the room that is separated with a sliding wall. After getting settled in and having a quick bite to eat we all met in the lobby around 4 to head out and walk around the city some. It isn't as clean as people have told me but it is still a nice change from Brisbane. Food seems to be cheaper here too! We walked downtown and got tickets to the Australian Open. Yes, the huge tennis tournament that is played here in Melbourne! The draw isn't out yet or at least the times aren't, but we are going sometime Monday night so hopefully we will get to see some good matches and some big name players play! We walked across the river to the Melbourne Botanical Gardens. Seems like we have got to see them from each city to compare. The walk was long but also extremely nice since we went from 90 degree weather in Brisbane to the 70 degree and windy weather here. The garden was nice and very spacey and the weather made it a perfect day to go visit. Yet once again after about thirty minutes, we all began to get antsy and hungry so sort of rushed through it. A group of us went left the gardens and walked back to town to get some dinner. As soon as I finish one meal I feel like it's time to eat again, I'm always hungry here. As a group we racked up a hefty bill at this restaurant only because they had half prices on all cocktails which was a nice change compared to the "drink specials" in Brisbane and Sydney. It's nice to finally have internet in my room at a decent price for the week! This time I won't get behind on my posts and pictures. Tomorrow is yet another early day as we are leaving here at 7 a.m. to go to the 12 Apostles Mountain range to do some more hiking along the coast. It's going to be a long yet an awesome day!
