Tourist on the Prowl

Yesterday was more of a relaxing touristy kind of day. The ENVD students got up and met with Mrs. Rogers around noon to discuss some of our research topics relating to the built environment. It was very helpful in narrowing down some of our broad ideas. The rest of the group joined us in the lobby’s café to head to the National Gallery of Victoria, in other words, the art gallery. It was much more enjoyable than the museum or art gallery that we went to back in Sydney and was a good place to go to get out of the heat. The art and artifacts inside ranged from the Asian culture through the European collections dating back to the 13th century. Some of my favorite pieces where not so much the painting, but the care and detail that went into some of the chandeliers and candleholders. All of which were made from either glass or crystals and were absolutely amazing.  After wondering around the labyrinth of galleries for a few hours, we boarded another tram and made our way to St. Kilda beach! It wasn’t as enjoyable as I would have liked since the wind blowing about 20 mph made it quite chilly. A few of us grabbed a bite to eat and a beer before heading out to the beach to soak in some sun, but not too much. We realized that we were the only people from our group left out on the beach so we decided to head back and call it a night. Kicking back and relaxing to watch some tennis that is being played no more than a few miles from where we are staying is always a good way to end a night.
